The PRISMAS project is an industrial research initiative with a high technological content and with dual civil and military applicability, framed in Mission 6: Training for strategic autonomy in security and defence. Its central objective is the design and validation of a Remote Reality Platform (RRP) that allows remote interaction in real time, even in extreme conditions of degraded communication, thanks to bidirectional video capabilities with ultra-low latency, resilience to packet loss and support for critical operations.

PRISMAS addresses a problem common to military, rescue and industrial scenarios: the need for safe, accurate and reliable remote interaction with vehicles, robots or simulated environments, even in locations that are difficult to access or have limited connectivity. To this end, the project proposes a comprehensive hardware, software and communications architecture that will be validated in four use cases of high operational demand:

  1. Teleoperation of UAVs with AI support for surveillance, search and rescue in tactical scenarios.
  2. Teleoperation of UGVs (unmanned ground vehicles) in structurally complex environments, without reliable connectivity.
  3. Remote manipulation with RMMs (mobile manipulating robots) in logistics, industrial or emergency operations.
  4. Immersive simulation for tactical and operational training, aimed at improving the training of air and ground system operators
